History of Bydgoszcz Stadium dates back to the turn of the 50s and 60s, but the stadium in its present form has existed since 2008, when its thorough reconstruction ended. Today the building complies with the technical and organizational requirements of Polish Football Association, UEFA and FIFA.
After Stadium’s reconstruction the Polish national team played there twice – in 2009, friendly matches against Greece and Canada. The stadium in Bydgoszcz is not a typical football arena but also, and perhaps above all, a track and field stadium. Twice a World Junior Championships in Athletics was held there (2008 and 2016). Also the final of the Polish Cup in 2011 between Legia Warsaw and Lech Poznan took place there. The Stadium used to be the home of Zawisza Bydgoszcz football club.
