Municipal sports facility of the third category of UEFA is located in Krakow at Kałuży Street next to the famous Błonia. The place where in 1912 the stadium was located, is the oldest still used sports location in league games in Poland. A completely new Stadium which was built on the site of the old building was opened on 25 September 2010. Cracovia Stadium is designed in such a way that it allows for organization of musical concerts and other similar events (thanks to a slide-out stage within the western stand).
Opened in 2010 the stadium is one of the most modern facilities of its kind – not only in Poland but also in Europe. Beside a great design, the stadium also has extensive facilities, including rooms that provide conditions for holding conferences, as well as banquets and other events. The stadium features two fully equipped conference rooms and a VIP room.
On 4 April 2005 Cracovia Stadium held a unique Mass of Reconciliation for Krakow’s football fans to celebrate the memory of the late first and the biggest club fan, Pope John Paul II. Karol Wojtyla after moving to Krakow in October 1938 had regularly attended the stadium of “The Stripes”. As a faithful supporter John Paul II often asked “How’s my beloved Cracovia?” and added: “Let Cracovia prove that sport, shaping characters and teaching about the noble competition and solidarity in effort, may be an expression of the highest human and social values.”
Information about the Stadium:
Capacity: 15 060 seats,
Illumination: 2000 lux,
dimensions of the pitch: 105m x 68m,
